HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-f0000 (39H22AV)

Hi,

The boot disk has been messed up by a thirdparty software so I was trying to create a boot medium for the Spectre X360, alas the Cloud recovery doesn't know about this device at all. And the support web page is a mess. Is it at all possible to get a Windows 10 recovery image for this pc?  I have been in chat queue for over 1 hour , so I'm hoping this might be quicker.

Any other way of getting Image for the PC? (Microsoft images won't work and no I cannot boot the machine to recovery 😞 ).

Hi:

I also checked and can confirm that your notebook is not supported, or not yet supported by the HP cloud recovery tool.

You are going to have to continue to wait for an HP support agent to help you since this is a peer-to-peer forum and we don't work for or represent HP.

Why won't the W10 installation media you create from Microsoft work?

If it has an 11th gen core processor, you have to install a specific storage controller driver so W10 can 'see' the drive.

See the info at the link below.

Here is the link to the driver you need...

This package contains the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The Intel Rapid Storage Technology is designed to provide functionality for the Intel Storage Controllers. The driver improves Serial ATA (SATA) disk performance with Native Command Queuing.

There is an error in that document, and that is where HP tells you to right click on the Intel driver file and select Extract to

When I ran through the steps, I don't get an Extract to option when I right click on the file.

You will probably have the same issue.  Download and install the free 7-zip file utility from the link below.

The 1st file at the top of the page is for 64 bit.

7-Zip (7-zip.org)

Then you can right click on the exe file, select 7-Zip from the menu, and select Extract to:  and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp111776), and copy that folder to your USB flash drive, and continue with the instructions.

Then you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

BTW, I only see W11 drivers for your notebook on the support page.

There is only a couple of drivers listed for W10.

Hi,

All of the above was done before posting here :-), alas it stops with a bluescreen after windows 10 is installed with the iastor driver being unable to load (ironically :-)).

So, a bit progress since last time. W11 standard image is loaded, but it requires a microsoft account to progress. So, back at needing the default image from HP :-(.

Been in queue with HP support for soon 2 hours... not got any hopes 🙂

Does the trick to disconnect from the internet (not be connected) allow you to set up a local account on W11 like it does with W10?

I have W11 Pro on all of my PC's and that allows me to set up a local account.

If not, you can do what I did when I had a PC with W10 Home and didn't know about that trick.

Set up a Microsoft account and then switch to a local account in the PC settings menu.

You should still be able to do that.
