Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Whilst trying out Ubuntu, I accidentally uninstalled Windows 10 (I don't know how). Now my laptop says that I don't have an operating system installed. If I reinstall Windows 10 through a CD/USB, will I need a product activation code (bearing in mind that the laptop shipped with Windows 8.1, then upgraded to Windows 10. The laptop came with Windows activated automatically).

Please help. Thanks.

Hi,

As long as the previous installation of Windows 10 had activated Ok after the upgrade from 8.1, the activation servers will have recorded this so you can just perform a clean installation as detailed in the guide on the following link.  Note: At the activation screen, select 'I don't have a Product key' - Windows will activate automatically once the installation has completed.

Hi there. Windows 10 did install and activate fine. In fact my laptop was working properly since Windows 10 came out and I upgraded. Then I decided to try out Ubuntu, and managed to uninstall Windows 10. How I miss it. Thanks for your help. I'll post how the new install goes when I try it out.
