Update SSD Firmware

Hello i have a HP Pavilion - 17-ab204nl and would like to update the firmware of my ssd

The ssd doesn't seem to be supported by samsung magician (the standard way to update samsung SSDs software) as it is an HP exclusive model and there is no ssd firmware noted in the general list of drivers for the machine on the hp website

How do i update my ssd firmware and from where?

Given the date of your post, I would have expected someone to respond to it before this -- but since that has not happened, I will take a shot at it ...

WHY are you so determined to do this?  You risk trashing the SSD in the process and rendering your laptop useless as a result.

Updating firmware on an SSD requires the following to be done:

1) Remove the SSD from the PC -- you can't update it while it is in use

2) Connect the SSD to a different PC

3) Download and install the SSD manufacturer's firmware utility -- this is the only way to do this

4) Run the utility -- it will check the firmware version and if there is an update, will access the manufacturer's site, download the update, and install it.

Number 3) is critical, so if HP does not have this, you would have to hunt it down on your own.

My advice -- leave it alone!
