This notebook was supplied with Windows-10 Home Vers. 1909. I was trying to install Windows-10 64 Professional totally new from an USB-stick. I never got the question of the serial number nor the Version (Home/Professional), but after completion it was still the Home Version! This Home version was also activated without have any connection to the internet!! I think the License-Number is stored in the BIOS. Can somebody tell me how to solve it?? Thanking you for soon response and best regards

Hi
Pro version may need a separate PURCHASED licence.
ShowKeyPlus from the Microsoft Store (probably the best choice).
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/showkeyplus/9pkvzcprx9nv?activetab=pivot:overviewtab
The output is like this....
ShowKeyPlus - Windows Product Key Information
Product Name: Windows 10 Home
Version: 12345.678 (64-bit OS)
Product ID: 00000-00000-00000-AAOEM
Installed Key: 12345-67890-09876-54321
OEM Key: MICRO-SOFTY-WINDO-WSTEN-64BIT
OEM Edition: Win 10 RTM Core OEM:DM
ALSO
KeyFinderInstaller may help.…
It gives this…. – CD Key: 12345-67890-09876-54321
ELSE
There is a possibility of finding the same value in the Registry....
USING RegEdit the key is listed below and it’s content also shown.
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
BackupProductKeyDefault 12345-67890-09876-54321
Three different names for the same value in 3 different software methods.

Hi, @auvicon
You cannot clean install W10 Pro, because as you found out, W10 automatically installs the version that the OEM key in the BIOS is good for, which was W10 Home. And it will do it every time.
All you need to do is to follow the guidance at the link below... I assume that you have a W10 Pro product key, so follow the instructions near the bottom of the page to Upgrade using a W10 Pro product key.
