Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (599K1AV)

Dear community,

On my device, I installed Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS

Unfortunately, on laptop's support page doesn't present drivers for linux distro OS.

Please, could you show a guide to update my BIOS using USA bootable device or another way Windows independent?

I followed this guide

Updating the BIOS manually from a USB Flash drive (outside of Windows)

linked to https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_4129273-2331498-16

but same steps are different.

Thanks for your support

@vaccide,

See the post below. Folks used the link referenced in your post to create a bios recovery usb drive and updated bios using the bios recovery procedure (press Win + B keys) on Linux-based laptops. If you tell us what steps gave you what problems, we may be able to help.

Dear TK_srq ,

Thanks for your reply!

I can create a recovery USB flash drive, Step 11 of  Set up the BIOS update on a USB flash drive paragraph, reported in the GUIDE of my first post.

In the  Update the BIOS with a USB flash drive paragraph step 2, I choose the System Diagnostics option but then, I don't see Firmware Management or BIOS Management options, with the USB device connected to the PC.

I can enter to USB using the F9 option, but I see three folders and I don't know what file to choose to update the BIOS manually.

Why I don't see Firmware Management or BIOS Management options?

@vaccide,

Those Linux folks didn't use Firmware Management to flash the bios. they used the bios recovery procedure. With a bios recovery usb drive connected to a laptop, they pressed Windows key and B key and turned on the laptop to update bios. There's the link for this process in my post but here's the same link below. Click on it and go to 3. Manually Recover the BIOS then click "Recover the BIOS Using a USB Recovery Drive." You already made a bios recovery usb drive so skip 1. Create USB Recovery Drive and go to 2. Install the BIOS Recovery File. This is the procedure you need use to update bios on your Linux laptop.
