Updated Windows to the latest version thought the Windows update and when it restarted it said a bios update was available. Whether I try to apply, postpone or cancel the update it restarts back to the same update page so I'm not able to boot

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...
HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also ensure Windows is up to date.
Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
Keep me posted how it goes

Hi, the problem is that i can't reach that stage. The bios update screen appears before i even reach the login screen and no matter what i press, the laptop restarts and the same bios update screen appears. If i try to update it, it says bios update failed. Signature file could not be found

@Safi3
Thank you for posting back.
Let's recover the BIOS using a key press combination.
Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.
Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the Power button for 2 to 3 seconds.
Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.
A BIOS update gone wrong can totally render your PC useless and irrepairable unless the entire comuter gets serviced.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

You could try a BIOS Recovery again by holding the Windows Key and B
If the issue persists, follow the instructions in this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02693833 to reinstall the BIOS using a USB Flash Drive
