Spectre x360 convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've just completed the update to Windows 10 release 1903 (after having to update the bios to F31) and now cannot log in to my notebook.  All sign-in options (facial recognition, PIN, password) are accepted and the machine says "Welcome back Dave Byron" but then I get a message "Could not load user profile" on a blue screen.

I've CTRL-ALT-DEL to a cold boot but nothing changes.

Can anyone help?

Hi:

I had the same thing happen to me.

Fortunately, I have multiple users on the PC I upgraded to v1903 on, so I used one of those profiles to create a new user account for me.  I left my middle initial out of the new account, and then was able to copy and paste all of the old user profile folders to the new account.

The I deleted the corrupt account, and changed my new user name to include my middle initial.

Following your suggestions, I attempted to boot into safe mode and the notebook recognised me.  I don't know if I ever got into safe mode, but it accepted my credentials and after another cold boot it appears to have settled down.  My desktop is as it was (with the hidden taskbar at the right hand vertical).

Thank you
