When entering diagnostics from restart and holding down f2 key, Diagnostics starts and I see message that program is out of date.

When select update get message

failed to download tar file

 

What to do?

I want to check my laptop for problems and using the latest version would appear to be sensible

All help appreciated

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI – v8.4.0.0

 

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support

 

Click on the purple 'Diagnose PC Hardware Issues Outside of the OS' box, and it will take you to the download button.
