Hello everyone

I went throught the steps yesterday to upgrade to Windows 11.  due to storage I had to have a usb attatched to the computer.  All went well and it said it was installing and then after it got to 100%  went to another screen downloading?uploading (sorry can't remember wording)  I left this running overnight... it was very slow.  My computer was shut down this morning and when I turned it on I got the HP sign then it flashed trying to recover then the message undoing changes made to your computer.... this has now been running for 5 hours with no change.... if I remove the usb it tells me to put it back in.... any suggestions please....thank you

You should not have forced the upgrade without first checking here.  Why?

Because such an upgrade generally requires 20GB of free space in the Windows drive and if you do not have that, a FORCED upgrade will continue but then FAIL, leaving your PC useless.

Provide us at least the model number of the unit.

Wish I had good news for you --but I don't -- as your PC, instead of having a laptop drive, only has a 64GB memory stick configured to work like a drive -- and if it is like the 32GB sticks, it is not removable or upgradeable.  And while 64GB sounds like a lot, every app install, every website view, every window update -- all write files to that drive and fill it up.  So, it could very well be that there was not 20GB free on the drive when you forced the update.

But ... if you buy a 32GB USB stick and follow the directions below, you should be able to restore the laptop to a working stateL

If your PC is a 2016 model or newer, you should see if you can make a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool on a working PC.

The recovery drive can then be used to install Win10 and the HP drivers and utilities that originally came with your PC.
