HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec1032nw

I have not had the opportunity to write about this before and have not mentioned it in my discussions.

I occasionally feel micro jams and they are likely caused by the disk software I have installed from Intel from your manufacturer site.

Checking my laptop I just discovered from 2022 and I have one.

So my question is:

Is there a possibility to upgrade to the latest version, because I noticed that there are updates for HPS3 and HPS4, but they don't work for me?

And one more thing:

If it is not possible to upgrade, is it possible to restore the original version (to HPS1) and then be able to upgrade?

I was able to update to HPS3, but to CB_KH_HPS3 Rev.A unfortunately I was not able to.

I am shown this problem:

Is there a possible solution, as I would like to upgrade to HPS4, but I see that the drive is not supported unfortunately.

I took the software version of the drive from HP Pavilion 15-eg0000.

Hi @Kamil96500,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.

It sounds like you're experiencing microstutters, potentially caused by the disk management software or firmware. Here's how you can address your concerns regarding updates and reverting to the original version:

1. Verifying Compatibility for Updates (HPS3 and HPS4)

  • Check Laptop Specifications: Confirm whether your HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec1032nw supports HPS3 or HPS4 updates. These updates are often tied to specific hardware configurations.
  • Intel Software Updates: Visit Intel's official website and search for updates based on the exact model of your storage drive. Verify compatibility with the HPS3 or HPS4 versions.
  • HP Support Site: Access the HP Support page for your laptop model and confirm if HPS3 or HPS4 updates are officially recommended for your specific system.

2. Upgrading to the Latest Compatible Version

  • If your system is compatible with the newer versions (HPS3 or HPS4), download the corresponding installer from HP or Intel and follow the installation instructions.
  • Ensure the installation process doesn't encounter compatibility errors. Use tools like the Intel Memory and Storage Tool to verify the current firmware version and available updates.

3. Restoring the Original Version (HPS1)

  • Locate the Original Software/Firmware: Check your HP recovery partition or download the HPS1 firmware/software from HP's website under the support section for your model.
  • Reinstallation Process:
    1. Uninstall the current version of the disk management software.
    2. Reinstall the HPS1 version to restore original functionality.
  • After restoring, attempt to upgrade incrementally (e.g., HPS2 -> HPS3 -> HPS4) if supported.

4. Addressing Microstutters

  • Check Storage Health: Use tools like CrystalDiskInfo or Intel’s software to ensure the drive is healthy and not experiencing errors.
  • Update Drivers: Ensure all other drivers, including graphics, chipset, and storage controller drivers, are updated.
  • Power Settings: Adjust your laptop's power settings for optimal performance, particularly ensuring the storage drive isn't being throttled.

I hope this helps.

I will answer by points

1. i checked the software compatibility of the disk and unfortunately CB_KH_HPS3 Rev.A shows what i informed earlier, and HPS4 nothing happens.

I think that here the 660p drive is not supported (I will refer at the end of my comment).

2 I have used Intel Memory and Storage Tool and it shows no updates and no errors.

3. I don't know how to restore disk firmware, so I won't say anything more.

4. I looked at CrystaDiskInfo and there is indeed an HPS3 version of the firmware and no errors are contained.

I will address 1 point.

The disk software, from other hardware with available drivers as I found it had a date of 2022 (I think it was October it was from HPS3) and the intel 600 and 700 series disks lost support in May 2022 by Intel and Solidigm took over (and were not updated until today, still a May 2022 date).

So I believe HPS3 is the latest version for my drive, but if I'm wrong then we can continue to work towards a fix.

Unfortunately my laptop doesn't have many drivers updated (I'm mainly concerned from the manufacturer), but with the BIOS update that came out yesterday the hardware runs well with windows 11 24H2, so it would be possible to update on the site offered drivers that are compatible with windows 11 24H2 (if possible).

If something is not clear, feel free to write with pleasure to clarify.

As for chipset drivers, network cards I have to wait, because nvidia, amd have not released yet in January this year.

I have discovered that the 2023 version of HPS3 does not allow installation because the drive is not included.

HP: Intel Optane Memory H20 Series: INTEL HBRPEKNL0203AHO: HPS2->HPS3
HP: Intel Optane Memory H20 Series: INTEL HBRPEKNL0202AHO: HPS2->HPS3
HP: Intel SSD 670P Series: INTEL HBRPEKNL0203AH: HPS2->HPS3
HP: Intel SSD 670P Series: INTEL HBRPEKNL0202AH: HPS2->HPS3

These drives are listed that can handle the installation, so 660p series are not supported.

I saw in the readmie file after installation.

However, when I try to install from HPS3 (not from HPS3 which contains security enhancements)

For HPS4, it claims that my drive is up to date to HPS3, so HPS3 contains the latest May 2022 patches.
