I have a HP Stream 14ax030wm laptop running Windows 10. It never has enough disk space to update Windows. I was going to toss it, but I decided to try upgrading the RAM to 8G after watching a great YouTube video and buying a 32 SD card to use as a disk space extension.
When I pulled the RAM card, it’s marked “4GB 1Rx8 PC3L 12800S”. Does the PC3L indicate this is a DDR3 card? I am finding conflicting info online. Any insight on this issue? Thanks for any light you can shed. If anyone can recommend the best 8G RAM card to buy, including the model number or a link to the site, that would be ideal.

Hi:
The product specs for your notebook indicate that it comes with a 4 GB DDR3L-1600 memory chip.

Below is the link to the service manual.
The manual indicates the max memory is 1 x 4 GB, but I believe that is incorrect.
This notebook model series can come with the same processor as yours and HP indicates the max memory is 1 x 8 GB.

This should be a compatible 8 GB memory chip for your notebook:

This chip should also work and costs a bit less...
