Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello all,

I was trying to install a fresh Windows 8.1 Single Language English 64 bit version on my laptop and the internal DVD writer is not working so I was using an external USB DVD reader for the same.  I went into BIOS to change the legacy boot order and selected USB CD/DVD but still, I was getting the same error "no bootable device insert boot disk and press any key"

Later I created a bootable USB flash drive using the iso image of the 8.1 Single Language English 64 bit version which I downloaded from the MS website and using Rufus. Again I tried to change settings in BIOS and saved it. This time I got the below options under boot manager:

I selected USB hard drive general USB Flash Drive from the above options and below is what I got.

entire screen covered with dots pattern like below. Pls, let me know how can I boot 8.1 using a bootable flash drive and where I am going wrong. Thank you.

Pls, see my BIOS settings as well.

Thank you all!

Hi:

If you still have the ISO file you downloaded, see if this works...

Use the Microsoft tool that I zipped up and attached below, to transfer the ISO file to a DVD or USB flash drive so that it is bootable.

Restart the PC, tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F9 boot options menu, and from that select the USB diskette on key/USB flash drive, or the DVD drive as applicable and press the enter key.

If you are using a DVD drive, you may have to enable legacy mode and boot from the legacy DVD boot source.

Some notebooks will not boot from a DVD in EFI mode.

Here are the drivers you need for the smbus and bcm thing.

SMBus:

BCM:
