Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I came across your post and would like to help. I understand that you have an HP 15 series laptop and want to connect an external LG monitor. I read that you have used two different HDMI to VGA cables and still there is no display on the monitor. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Please let me know the exact product model no. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l
  • I believe the HDMI port is on the laptop and the VGA port is on the LG monitor. Is that correct?
  • Have you checked if the monitor has a good display when connected to any other computer (if available)?

Meanwhile, I suggest you to refer to this HP document which explains in detail on connecting an external display to your HP laptop.  It also explains the video settings that need to be done in Windows 10 to get a good display on the external monitor.

I hope this information helps. Keep me posted. Cheers! 🙂

>> Yes <<

It is to be noted that there is no issue in having laptop display on TV using HDMI cable

@syedss

Thank you so much for the information.

Did you try the steps from the link is posted earlier in my previous post about connecting an external display to your HP laptop?

The evidence indicates that the LG monitor is fine as it works on another computer. Secondly, the HDMI port on the laptop is also good because an HDMI TV works fine.

Let me know. Thanks again! 🙂

Hi Kazi,

Yes, I had tried but no luck.

It is to be noted that I dont see anything like 'found new device' or plug n play like activity when I insert the connector cable.

Syed SS

Thanks for replying with the information. 🙂

Let's try to uninstall the existing graphics drivers and reinstall the latest drivers by following the below steps:

  • Open the device manager.
  • Expand "Display adapters".
  • Right click on the drivers listed in display adapters and select uninstall.
  • After the display drivers are uninstalled, please download and install the drivers from this HP link.

Hope this works out. Good luck! 🙂
