Can I use HP Cloud recovery Tool to reinstall OS to my newly connected SSD while the HDD is already connected?

Hi

I don't know.  They are particular, and if it decided to install it may very well wipe your existing HDD data.

So best avoided.

Make a Recovery Media.

Consider cloning the OLD to the NEW and making the NEW connect to the primary channel.

Dis-connect the OLD, and try booting the new.

If it fails then you have the recovery media to try with on the NEW while your data is safe on the OLD until the NEW functions.

This is highly thought of...  https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree

If it goes wrong data could be lost.

Thank you very much for replying!,

I tried this already and when cloning the HDD the process failed. Then I clean installed the OS and the machine is not smooth as before. How to fix this and recover using the cloud recovery tool?

From 2016 onwards there is a possible recovery option via the cloud...

@MalinduNawa

The HP Cloud Recovery tool allows you to make recovery Media which you can then use to boot your PC and do a factory reset.

IT does the same thing as the HP Recovery Media, but like that, it expects to find a target drive much the same size as the original HDD.  IF you try to use it on a smaller SSD, it is liable NOT to work because when it goes to recreate the original partitions, it may discover that it does not have enough space to do that.

Thank you very much for replying,

Is it mandatory to have an OS installed in the HDD, ( because present OS reside in the SSD ) to use the recovery tool and I also upgraded a RAM to 16GB does it affect the process of the recovery tool?
