I am at a dead end......

My Envy x360 15-ed1 motherboard stopped powering on. I found the issue but I decided to upgrade to i7 from i5, same gen, 11th. HP turned off access to VMD and I have yet to find the advanced key combination because I have a 10-key touch with no Right-Ctrl. The i7 motherboard was so outdated Bios was at F.16, I flashed it straight to F.46. But that was after I tried every single driver there was. I have loaded drivers from my old SSDs that were in my 15-ed. I have used raw from intel, HP useless driver downloads and I can not get passed "WHERE TO DOWNLOAD WINDOWS 11" because I am missing something. What bridge is there to get my motherboard to talk to my M.2?!?!?!?!? I have spent 3 days with no answer. I am about to smash my Laptop. I am so angry with Microsoft for their 11 mandatory update, making it almost impossible to own a 'budget' computer. There's always a way and I refuse to throw in the towel! Someone has an answer......

@ElderMillennial,

Since your model comes with an Intel Core 11th gen processor, you need to supply Intel RST VMD storage drivers to the Window installer to detect the SSD to install Windows on.

Microsoft never added Intel RST storage drivers to the Windows installation media, so users need to provide the drivers during the Windows installation.

HP consumer notebooks don't come with an option to disable VMD in the BIOS.

You can use HP Cloud Recovery Tool if your model comes with W11 factory installed. The recovery tool creates a recovery usb drive that will restore the drive to a factory state.

Click the link below for how to use the recovery tool.

If you still want to clean install Windows, you can follow the instructions in the thread below for an IRST driver installation. This person was able to install W11 in an Envy x360 15m-ed1xxx model.
