Validity Fingerprint Sensor WBF drivers (without HP software)

I really want to use the fingerprint reader on the HP Probook 430 G2, which is a Validity VFS495.

The default wat is to use HP's security software, which I don't want to use.

Another option would be to use Windows 8.1's built in "Biometrics" feature, but it's not enabled for some reason.

Some reading into the issue told me that I need to install a "Windows Biometric Framework" enabled driver, but I couldn't find a working driver for the VFS495.

It was suggested on multiple forums to download and use the driver from "http://www.validityinc.com/software/hp/wbf.php", but that link seems to be dead.

Is there any other solution that would allow me to use the fingerprint reader without HP's software, or perhaps does anyone have a mirror to Validity's WBF driver?

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the consumer notebook security software to enable the fingerprint sensor to work.

That is exactly what I want to avoid.

I want to use Windows' stock and native biometric services, without having to rely on HP software.

As for the driver you supplied, it doesn't match my model (495) and can not be used.

The native drivers at  http://www.validityinc.com/software/hp/wbf.php have reportedly solved it for many people, but that link is dead and gone and I can't find mirrors.

Sorry I misunderstood you.

The HP Client Security Mamager software on your notebook's support and driver page is a much more robust security suite than the security software I posted for HP consumer notebooks, which just works for getting the fingerprint sensor to work.

If you already have the fingerprint driver installed, all you would need is the Simple pass software.

I can't help you with what you are really looking for, and I suggest you also post your question on the HP Business Support Forum -- Probook Notebooks section.

Thanks, but I don't really see why I need to use HP anything when Windows has built-in features that do the same.

To be honest, I don't really care how 'robust' it is, I just want to bypass my lockscreen with a fingerswipe without having HP's bloat software on my system.

I'll try asking there, but without driver-level support for Windows Biometric Framework, I doubt it'll work either way.

After much research, I finally found a solution.

The Dell E5440 uses the same sensor, but a newer driver that's WBF compatible.

I installed Dell's driver and everything works fine now - the fingerprint sensor is detected by the operating system's native security features without any HP software neccesary.

Hi, this did not work for me as expected. I use a HP ProBook 430 G2 with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I was able to install Dell's driver and see the "Biometric Devices" entry in the Control Panel, however when I went ahead and clicked "Use your Fingerprint with Windows" windows came back asking for the bundled software for the device. So I went to square one, uninstalled Dell's driver, installed HP's validity driver and on top of that HP Client Security software. This time it worked, after determining the security questions the software asks for three index and middle finger swipes for registration. I still cannot see the "Biometric Devices" in the Control Panel, but can logon using fingerprint recognition.

I forgot to add you must have Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 on your machine otherwise it wont function correctly.
