I am a graphic designer so I have to use adobe software like PS or AI but it cant handle the two at a time, I can't even turn on youtube and listen to music if I open Photoshop, browser and file manager simultaneously, it crashes and I have to do force shutdown. Plz give me instructions to solve this.

Hi @Flatmood,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand how vital a smooth creative workflow is, especially when you're using professional tools like Photoshop and Illustrator. You shouldn’t have to force shut down a brand-new system while working on your passion. Let's get this running.

1. Check Your System Specs

Make sure your hardware meets the recommended specs for Photoshop and Illustrator:

  • RAM: At least 16 GB (Adobe recommends this for multitasking).
  • CPU: Intel i5/i7 (11th Gen or newer).
  • GPU: At least 4 GB VRAM (check with Adobe's GPU compatibility list).
  • Storage: Use an SSD with at least 20 GB free.

Check via:
Settings > System > About
Or press Windows + R, type dxdiag, and check RAM, CPU, and GPU info.

2. Update Graphics & System Drivers

Outdated drivers can cause freezing or crashes with Adobe apps.

Steps to Update via HP Support Assistant:

  1. Search for HP Support Assistant from the Start Menu.
  2. Open it > Go to Updates tab.
  3. Install any recommended updates (especially display or BIOS updates).

🔄 Or update manually:

3. Set Graphics Apps to High Performance

Assign Adobe apps to use your dedicated GPU instead of integrated graphics.

Steps:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics.
  2. Click “Browse” and add Photoshop (Photoshop.exe) and Illustrator (Illustrator.exe).
  3. Once added, click each > "Options" > choose High performance.

4. Adjust Adobe App Preferences

Optimize how Adobe software uses your system resources.

Photoshop:

  • Edit > Preferences > Performance
  • Allow up to 70–80% of RAM
  • Enable GPU acceleration
  • Uncheck “Use Graphics Processor” if your GPU causes crashes

Illustrator:

  • Edit > Preferences > Performance
  • Enable GPU Performance
  • Reduce the number of history states or effects if needed

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have done all you mentioned but it is not solved, and the thing is not about Photoshop and Illustrator but the entire problems my laptop has. It crashes when I'm playing youtube and file manager at the same time, the screen turns black and I have to do restart everytime. Maybe ram issues or something but I don't know. It is just I can't use more than 4 or 5 tabs in browser, can't do multitask the whole time, and I have to close one application to use others. To say, I want to open and multitask Photoshop, Illustrator, Browser with at least 5 tabs, file manager, and photos however my laptop is unable to use like above tasks at a time.

@Flatmood, I see you were interacting with @VikramTheGreat however, he's away for now and I'd love to help you out

Thanks for getting back — I hear you, and I understand how frustrating this must be, especially when you’re trying to multitask with essential tools like Photoshop and just basic apps like a browser or file manager.

Since you've already tried the earlier steps, and the issue isn't just with Adobe apps, it sounds like your system might be running into RAM limitations, or there could be a hardware issue affecting performance.

Here’s what I’d recommend next:

🔍 Quick Checks:

RAM Usage:
Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) > Performance tab > Memory.
If it’s maxing out when apps are open, your system might need a RAM upgrade (16 GB or more is ideal for your workflow).

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:
Restart and tap F2 to enter HP Diagnostics. Run Extensive Tests on memory and storage.

Check for Overheating:
If the laptop gets very hot before crashing, it could be thermal throttling. Use a cooling pad, or make sure vents are clear.

Consider a Reset:
If nothing else helps, a clean reinstall of Windows might clear up underlying software issues.

I know this isn’t the experience you expected from a Victus laptop.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
