Hello,

i try to update my BIOS with the newest version from the HP Suport side ( F.22 Rev.A ) , unfortunately the setup give me this error message

"

There is not enough free disk space to complete the System BIOS and DEvice Firmware update operation. Delete some files to free disk space then retry again. "

Unfortunately i am not sure where i  should delete some files to free disk space, since my NVME still have enough space and i am not sure where to delete anything from bios space what could help with this issue.

So maybe some one have an idea what to do .

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi @Balder84,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It looks like you're encountering an issue where the BIOS update process can't proceed due to insufficient disk space. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this.

Check Available Disk Space: Ensure that there is enough free space on your NVMe drive. BIOS updates usually don't require a lot of space, but it's good to have a significant amount of free space to avoid any issues.

Clear Temporary Files:

Windows Disk Cleanup:

  1. Open the Start Menu and type "Disk Cleanup."
  2. Select your NVMe drive.
  3. Check the boxes for temporary files, system cache files, and other unnecessary items.
  4. Click "OK" and then "Delete Files."

Manually Clear Temporary Files:

  1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  2. Type %temp% and press Enter.
  3. Delete the files in the Temp folder.

Check for Large Files: Look for large files or folders that you can delete or move to an external drive. This includes old downloads, large media files, or unused applications.

Ensure No Other Updates Are Running: Sometimes, other updates or processes can take up temporary space. Make sure no other major updates or installations are running in the background.

Try a Different USB Drive: If the BIOS update file is being transferred to a USB drive before installation, ensure the USB drive has enough space and is formatted correctly.

Perform a BIOS Recovery (if needed): If you’re unable to free enough space or resolve the issue, you might need to perform a BIOS recovery.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello,

thank you for your reply.

Free Space should be enough "

I try now to install by USB stick and prepare the usb stick with the HP BIos Update tool to install it from USB, but during booting the PC it was not starting anything from this USB stick . Did i have to install something else on the USB that the Bios will be updated from this ?

The error message is only coming if i try to install the BIOS via the exe File. So maybe you have some more ideas which space should be full that i am not able to install it.

Hi @Balder84,

Thank you for your response,

It sounds like you're having trouble with updating the BIOS on your HP Victus Gaming Laptop. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you ensure that the BIOS update process works smoothly.

Preparing the USB Stick

Format the USB Stick:

  • Use a USB stick with at least 1GB of free space.
  • Format it to FAT32. You can do this by right-clicking the USB drive in File Explorer, selecting "Format," and choosing FAT32.

Download the BIOS Update:

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the BIOS update for your specific model. Ensure you have the correct version for your Victus Gaming Laptop 16-r0456ng.

Prepare the USB Stick:

  • If you’re using the HP BIOS Update tool, follow the tool’s instructions carefully. Typically, it will involve copying the BIOS update file and any additional required files to the root directory of the USB stick.

Creating a Bootable USB Stick:

  • If you’re not using the HP tool, you might need to create a bootable USB drive manually. HP often provides a specific method for this. Check the HP website or support documentation for detailed instructions.

Updating the BIOS

Enter BIOS Setup:

  • Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (often Esc, F2, or F10) to enter the BIOS setup during startup.

Change Boot Order:

  • In the BIOS settings, navigate to the Boot menu and ensure that the USB stick is set as the first boot device. Save changes and exit the BIOS.

Boot from USB Stick:

  • Restart your laptop. It should now boot from the USB stick. Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with the BIOS update.

If the Update Fails

Check USB Stick Preparation:

  • Ensure the USB stick is properly formatted and contains the correct files. Sometimes reformatting and re-copying the files can resolve issues.

File Integrity:

  • Verify that the BIOS update file is not corrupted. Re-download the file from the HP website if necessary.

Power Supply:

  • Ensure your laptop is plugged in during the BIOS update to avoid any power-related issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
