Hi @Sakthivel4167,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issues you're facing with the "Virus and threat protection" not opening and the update error "0x80248007" can be resolved through several troubleshooting steps. Here are some detailed steps to help you resolve the problem:

1. Restart Windows Update and Background Intelligent Transfer Services

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Find the following services:
    • Windows Update
    • Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)
  3. Right-click each service and select Stop.
  4. Right-click each service again and select Start.

2. Clear the Software Distribution Folder

  1. Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.
  2. Delete all the contents of the folder (you might need administrative permissions).

3. Run Windows Update, Troubleshooter

  1. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  2. Find and run the Windows Update troubleshooter.

Follow the instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

4. Check for Malware

Sometimes, malware can interfere with antivirus programs and Windows updates. Use a trusted third-party malware removal tool to scan your computer.

5. Use the Windows Update Assistant

  1. Download the Windows Update Assistant
  2. Run the tool and follow the instructions to update your system.

6. Perform a Clean Boot

A clean boot starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, which can help eliminate software conflicts:

  1. Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
  2. Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and then click Disable all.
  3. Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
  4. Disable all startup items in Task Manager.
  5. Close Task Manager and click OK in the System Configuration window.
  6. Restart your computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
