HP compaq tc4200
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I was given A hp tc 4200 tablet pc in not working condition no recovery discs . I refurbished with new memmory(2gb),new hdd(100gb),new cpu(M780) and new mobo. Don't have coa .  Can I install Win.7 32 bits or Win 7 64 bits or even Win 10 32 or 64 bits ???

Hi:

 

The processors in that model don't support 64 bit operating systems, so you can only install a 32 bit OS.

 

The Mobile Intel 915 chipset's graphics adapter (GMA900) does not support windows aero.

 

If you install W7 32 bit, you can get basic graphics functions to work by manually installing the Vista 32 bit driver from the notebook's support page.

 

You can also use the Vista drivers for most of the other devices too.

 

W10 is a no go.  The vista graphics driver will not work on W10.

Thank's , Paul , I got it .  I think I will Install XP Tablet version It seems to be the best Option Please correct me If you have a better option for this Old Renew PC . Thank's again Paul

You're very welcome.

 

As, I wrote, you can install W7 on it, but the PC was designed to run for XP and Vista.

 

If you don't care that XP hasn't been supported since 2014 for security updates, and you will have to use a 3rd party internet browser and antivirus protection, then I think XP would be your best option.
