Hi,
I just upgraded my HP Elitebook 9470m from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I have the following issues:
1. Base System Device Driver is missing
When in Device Manager, warning sign. Troubleshooting cannot find driver. HP Support Assistant either.
Hardware IDs are
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2392&SUBSYS_18DF103C&REV_30
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2392&SUBSYS_18DF103C
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2392&CC_088000
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2392&CC_0880
2. SD card reader not working
I have installed the latest driver (in HP webpage) see below
TITLE: Alcor Micro Smart Card Reader Driver
VERSION: 1.7.43.22
SoftPaq NUMBER: SP71725
SUPERSEDES:SP71304,None
EFFECTIVE DATE: 7/29/2015
CATEGORY: Driver - Storage
SD card reader does not respond when SD card in, and provokes Explorer to stop working. Also, everytime I input the SD card, (wifi) internet seems to stop working
3. Mouse issues
I have installed the latest driver (in HP webpage) see below
TITLE: Synaptics Mouse Driver
VERSION: 19.0.12.0
SoftPaq NUMBER: SP72041
SUPERSEDES:None,None
EFFECTIVE DATE: 7/23/2015
CATEGORY: Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices
Left button of stick behave strangely. When clicked to open a new Chrome tab, it opens many or un-maximises the window.
4. BIOS admin password
I tried installing the following BIOS update
TITLE: HP Notebook System BIOS Update
VERSION: F.62
SoftPaq NUMBER: SP74061
EFFECTIVE DATE: October 31, 2015
CATEGORY: BIOS
SSM SUPPORTED: YES
DEVICES SUPPORTED: N/A
However, it asks me for the BIOS password, and I seem to have forgotten it. When launching (F7) HP SpareKey it turns out my BIOS user has a SpareKey activated, but the admin user does not. How can I find the BIOS password to install the BIOS update?
I have read replies indicating to "Reset BIOS defaults", or unpower CMOS battery. However, I have a dual boot with Ubuntu which I fear breaking. And I cannot afford that as is the only flawless way to use my notebook (compared to W10).
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
David

Hi:
You need the JMicron card reader driver for the base system device.
The JMicron Media Card Reader Driver enables the integrated media card slot in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63637.exe
That would be the only issue I can help you with.
You will need to contact HP technical support to get some kind of BIOS file they will send you to unlock the BIOS P/W.
I forgot what they call it. Just explain the situation...that you need to unlock/reset the BIOS password you forgot.
There is a revision history tab on the mouse driver file which shows newer versions you may want to try...

Thanks! You solved two out of the three problems I had, kudos!
It would be good that your info is chanelled into the drivers page for my PC model. The JMicron driver was not there (or I could not find it)
On the BIOS, do you know who should I contact in HP? I just fear my dual boot gets messed up if I change the BIOS.
Thanks again,
David

You're very welcome, David.
The card reader driver I gave you is not for W10, which is probably why HP doesn't list it there.
It is good for W8.1 and older operating systems.
Why I do not know, since it works.
Please let me know what country you live in so I can give you the phone number to call.
I have the most recent ones for the USA, Canada and the UK, but unfortunately, any of the others I have are 6 years old and I have no idea if they are good or not.
