Hi @PAT062

Welcome to the HP Support Community!  We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the situation—it’s genuinely frustrating when your Microsoft 365 subscription is supposed to be active, but you're being asked for a product key.

Let’s walk through how to resolve this and activate your included subscription.

Step 1: Check for Preinstalled Microsoft 365 Activation

Your HP 14 laptop bundle likely came with a 1-year Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, which is activated through your Microsoft account—not a printed product key.

  1. Open any Office app (Word, Excel, etc.).
  2. If prompted, sign in with your Microsoft account (the one you use for Windows or Outlook).
  3. Go to File > Account and check the subscription status.

If it says “Subscription expired” or “Unlicensed,” continue to the next step.

Step 2: Use HP’s Digital Activation Portal

HP bundles Microsoft 365 through digital entitlement. You can activate it using this official guide:

Follow the steps to:

  • Sign in with your Microsoft account.
  • Redeem the included subscription.
  • Confirm activation through Office apps.

Step 3: Check HP Welcome App or HP App

Sometimes the activation link is embedded in HP’s setup tools:

  1. Open the HP App from your Start menu.
  2. Go to My Services or Included Software.
  3. Look for Microsoft 365 and click Activate.

If you don’t have the HP App installed:

Step 4: Verify Your Microsoft Account Subscriptions

  1. Visit https://account.microsoft.com/services
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account.
  3. Check if Microsoft 365 Personal is listed under active subscriptions.

If it’s missing, the subscription may not have been redeemed yet.

Let me know if you see any error messages or if the activation link isn’t showing—I’ll guide you further based on what you find.
