HP 15 g-100 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I would like assistance with diagnosing what part of my HP 15 g-100 Notebook has been possibly damaged or needs repair. A month ago, I spilled water on the right side of the keyboard and most of it got caught in the Optical Drive tray (which is empty). I immediately unplugged all external cables and battery and removed excess water and dried my laptop by turning it upside down and placing it on the floor. A few days later, after water has dried or was removed, I tried plugging in my battery and AC adapter and the laptop does not seem to turn back on! When it has water spilled initally, the laptop was fine and did not seem to turn off on its own or get damaged by the water. Until now, I keep plugging in my AC adapter and battery and no light or sounds are being emmitted except the LED light for the charger port, which flashes white once, then turns back into orange for charging. I cant even turn it on when I plug the AC adapter without the battery. Thank you so mcuh and I hope someone out there can assist me!

Hi @Genesis808,

Greetings! Let me take a moment to thank you for posting the question in the HP community. read the post about liquid spillage on the computer. I will be glad to assist you here. Splendid description of the issue. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

You need to contact Hp phone support to get the computer repaired.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://hp.care/2r9wSvP

  • Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
  • Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
  • Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
  • Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.

if the cost of repair is almost the cost of buying a new computer, then contact HP shopping via this link: http://hp.care/2rQLe1b  and follow the on-screen instructions to buy a new computer after selecting the country. You might be able to locate a phone number to call. I am being honest with you without beating around the bush.

I don't live in Bill Gates' neighborhood and understand precisely where you come from. You would get a year's hardware warranty and peace of mind. You could look at numerous options based on your requirements and budget.

If the computer is more than 3 years old then service options with HP are no longer available because the original suppliers and manufacturers who manufacture and supply the parts to HP to build and service the computer don't do so anymore.

Please contact a local technician to get the product repaired.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Almost identical situation just happened with my daughters laptop, water was spilled and the laptop sat in the water with the USB ports and charging port in the water overnight. In the morning when it was discovered, immediately made sure nothing was plugged in and dried as much as I could. I then wrapped it in a towel and covered it with dry rice for about 10 hours or so and now it works fine with no problems.
