Welcome to the HP Community --

Whether you can fix it depends on whether your computer has a supported fingerprint sensor installed inside the case.

Not all computers come with the fingerprint sensor hardware.

What if?   It looks like there is a sensor on the keyboard...

Sometimes there is a little box "cover" where the sensor would be located.

What?  Blank cover - no sensor underneath the little cover.

Is there a fingerprint sensor installed inside the computer?

Check the Device Manager > Biometric devices

What?

Windows comes with the ability to recognize / detect existing hardware in the Device Manager.

Most Windows comes with Windows Hello software.

Whether the Windows Hello fingerprint OR Face can "do" anything depends on the hardware installed in the machine.

For example,

Fingerprint sign-in depends on (needs) a fingerprint sensor (the hardware in the computer)

Facial Recognition requires an IR type camera (upgraded camera / webcam in the computer)

If the fingerprint sensor hardware is installed inside the computer,

and

If Windows Device Manager detects the fingerprint sensor in Biometric Devices,

then

Check the fingerprint sensor driver version against the driver in your computer's Software and Drivers category.

Example - Device Manager - Biometric Devices / Camera

Your computer might -- or might not -- have the required IR camera needed for Hello Face.

IR camera is a specialty device and is not standard on all computers.
