Pavilion Notebook - 17-g047
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello,

I have a HP Pavilion notebook that has been upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.

The webcam and microphone can not be found when trying to use Skype, or on a website that can test your webcam/microphone. The audio on the laptop is working fine.

I've tried updating the drivers using the HP Update tool, but that didn't resolve the problem.

The microphone is found under Recording Devices, but is not picking up any sound.

Skype directly says there is no microphone or webcam found.

Device manager shows the devices without any errors.

The weird thing is, I tried using the software CyberLink YouCam to test the webcam, and the webcam works under that program.

Is this still an driver issue, or is the best solution to reinstall windows 10?

I think most of the problems are being caused by conflicting windows 8/10 drivers.

Hello,

The article you linked is for desktop computers. The laptop i'm having problems with uses an built in microphone and webcam.

Are there drivers available for Windows 10 for this laptop?

Greetings @allarddh, I am the @Chimney_83. It looks like you were interacting with @Rainbow23, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.

Thanks for the reply, looks like you were given desktop webcam steps instead of a notebook.

Not to worry, I will be glad to help.

Click here to download the webcam software which includes the driver for Windows 10.

Uninstall the youcam software from your computer.

Restart your computer.

Install the download webcam software and check.

For other troubleshooting steps please refer to this HP Article

To check the microphone, right-click on the speaker icon on the taskbar and select recording devices.

Once you have the recording devices window open. Tap on the microphone and check if the bars move.

You can also refer to this HP Article to troubleshoot issues with a microphone.

Let me know if this helped.
