Hi @Beetlebugs,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop's screen appears to be damaged (like it "exploded"), here are some steps you can take to assess the situation and determine your next steps:
1. Check for Physical Damage:
- Inspect the screen for any visible cracks, dents, or damage. If there’s physical damage, the screen may need to be replaced.
2. Connect to an External Monitor:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI or VGA cable. If the external display works fine, the issue is likely with the laptop screen itself.
3. Perform a Hard Reset:
- Shut down the laptop completely. Remove the battery (if removable) and unplug the power adapter. Hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power. Reconnect the battery and power, then turn it on again.
4. Boot in Safe Mode:
- If you can see anything on the screen, try booting in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if it's a software issue.
5. Check for Overheating:
- Overheating can sometimes cause display issues. Make sure the vents are clear, and the laptop isn't overheating.
6. Look for Signs of Flickering:
- If there’s flickering or artifacts on the screen, it might indicate a failing graphics card or display.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
