Hi’
After a Windows reset I downloaded HP Support Assistant on my HP ENVY 15-k061no Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR) Serial number [edited]
The Support Assistant did an analysis of the system and created two “updates”, one to download HP Wireless Button Driver and another to update Intels chipset to allow Windows to correctly recognize my pc.
It is true that the reset uninstalled the Wireless Button Driver and I have never downloaded the update to Intels chipset however, the reset uninstalled many other apps including a number of Intel apps.
I would like to know what the Support Assistant check forn and what does it not check?

I read this post. Thanks for replying. It is splendid to hear from you again. Your patience and time are greatly appreciated. You've displayed magnificent commitment, immense patience coupled with sound technical skills to try and resolve the issue. Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂
Each of these apps is important.
- Cool sense is a technology that uses the computer's hardware along with its own software to keep the computer's temperature (processor's) within reasonable limits.
- HP 3D DriveGuard keeps the accelerometer healthy and makes it work correctly.
- The Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) 4.0 are drivers for your wireless and Bluetooth combo card and so on each of these drivers or app is important for the complete functionality and optimal health of your computer.
- So support assistant does not create the updates. It only searches for updates and installs it on the computer.
- So if the updates for these apps and drivers are not found by support assistant to install then you already have the latest version installed which is found on the Hp support site.
- Each of these apps is important for the total health of the computer.
- So HP support assistant is only a tool or app to download the updates that are already there on the HP support site for your computer. But if you don't find any, then the latest drivers and apps are already installed on the computer.
- Hope this helps.
Now you've been a valued HP customer and it has been an absolute privilege to share this platform with you and a terrific experience to work with you. Trust me I've done all I've done to assist you by keeping your best interest in mind given the circumstances. I honestly hope things work great for you.

Hi' DavidSMP
Thank you for your reply via the support forum. I have read the material you refer to but I don’t find an answer to my fundamental question.
What does the HP Support Assistant check when analysing the system?
As mentioned a Windows reset removed many apps, but the support assistant only created updates for 2 missing apps, but not for the following:
HP CoolSense
HP 3D DriveGuard
Intel(R) Management Engine Components
Intel(R) Processor Graphics
Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology
Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) 4.0
Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software
And others…...
Are these apps important? If yes, why doesn’t the support assistant create updates to download these apps? If not, why were they installed by the authorized HP dealer in the first place?

Hi' DavidSMP
Thank you for your reply.
But I think that your answer may not be correct. Maybe HP Support Assistant is supposed to work the way described, but apparently it doesn't or the HP support site is not correctly updated.
You state the following:
"So HP support assistant is only a tool or app to download the updates that are already there on the HP support site for your computer. But if you don't find any, then the latest drivers and apps are already installed on the computer."
The Windows reset removed HP Cool Sense and HP 3D DriveGuard. These apps are not installed on the pc now(according to the list displayed under programs and features and they are also unknown to search). So the support assistant has not discovered that these apps are missing and has not created downloads to get them as the support assistant did with the HP Wireless Button Driver that was also removed by the reset.
Maybe these apps are not on the HP support site for my computer, I don't know, but if this is the case then the support site is not correctly updated since the apps are important and were installed when I bought the computer.
