Hi:

The 1 TB portable hard drive I have is a Seagate, and the 2 TB portable hard drive is a WD.

I like them both equally very much.

One really useful feature of Macrium Reflect is the ability to mount partitions from an image backup in Windows, so you can restore individual files or groups of files from an image backup. I don't know if this is possible in the free edition, but it is certainly possible in the paid edition of Macrium Reflect 7.1.

Macrium also allows you to create file and folder backup jobs, but that feature is restricted to the paid edition.

Hi David,

Thank you very much for your input and taking the time out to help. I appreciate it.

That is great that you use Macrium. I bought the paid version last week and now will be trying really learn it. I did one image backup so far. Thank you for the tip. Will test it out.

Have you done a lot of file and folder backups yet? Any tips on that before I attempt to do one?

Hi Paul,

Thank you! I ended up with the WD Mybook External drive 4tb. It was at a good price and I have an Amazon Prime card that I was able to get an even more discount. So, for the deal I went for it. From my research I am going to go more towards the internal hard drives in docking stations, raid setups etc. as I move forward in the future, but for now this is good.

Also, I am all set in terms of what this thread was originally about and the additional help and questions I had.  I appreciate the assistance and great help you gave. If for some reason I forget some things to ask I hope it is still ok to ask here. Anything I forgot to mention please don't hesistate to ask.

Otherwise, I hope you have a great labor day weekend and day tomorrow.

Jeff
