Hi @Leon116,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It’s frustrating when you plug in to charge and the battery doesn’t seem to hold up—especially since it started right after an update.
A few questions to help narrow things down:
- Does the charging indicator light up when you plug in the charger?
- Are you using the original HP charger that came with the laptop?
- Have you noticed any other performance issues since the update, like slower speeds or unexpected shutdowns?
Let's try these steps.
Check Battery Health: Go to HP Support Assistant on your laptop and run a battery test. This can show if your battery health is affected and give you more specific guidance.
Update Battery and Power Drivers: Open Device Manager, expand Batteries, and right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery. Choose Update driver and follow the steps to update it, or uninstall and restart for it to automatically reinstall.
Run Power Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters, and find Power. Run the troubleshooter to check for any power or battery-related issues.
Check for Additional Windows Updates: Sometimes Windows releases follow-up updates to fix issues caused by prior updates. Go to Settings > Windows Update, and check if any updates are available.
Reset the Battery Calibration: Let the battery drain completely until it shuts down, then charge it fully to 100% without interruption. This can help recalibrate the battery and sometimes resolve charging issues after updates.
