Hi @Chxzu,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Boot Device Not Found" error on your HP laptop usually indicates that the system cannot detect the hard drive or the operating system installed on it. Here's what you can do to troubleshoot the issue.
Check BIOS Boot Order
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press the F10 key repeatedly to enter the BIOS (you might see a prompt for this).
- In the BIOS, go to the Boot menu and check if your hard drive is listed as a boot device.
- Ensure that your primary hard drive (where Windows is installed) is set as the first boot device.
- Save changes and exit the BIOS, then restart the computer.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the laptop and remove the power cable.
- If the battery is removable, take it out.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge any remaining power.
- Reconnect the battery and power cable, then try turning on the laptop again.
Run Hardware Diagnostics
- Turn off the laptop, then turn it back on and repeatedly press the F2 key to enter HP’s hardware diagnostics tool.
- Run a System Test and a Hard Drive Test. If the hard drive fails, it may need to be replaced.
Check Hard Drive Connections (if possible)
- If you are comfortable opening the laptop, check if the hard drive is properly connected to the motherboard. Loose connections can cause the laptop to not detect the drive.
Try Booting from a USB Drive
- If you have a Windows installation or recovery USB, plug it in and set your laptop to boot from it via the BIOS.
- From the USB, you can attempt to repair the operating system using the "Repair your computer" option.
Reinstall or Repair Windows
- If none of the above steps work, you may need to reinstall or repair Windows. If your hard drive is still functional, reinstalling Windows will not delete your files (unless you choose to format the drive).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
