Hi @1107Shruti,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the HDD-3F0 error typically means the laptop is unable to detect the boot device, which usually indicates a problem with the hard drive or the boot order in the BIOS. Since your laptop works fine after restarting and passes self-tests for the drive, the issue might be related to power management or how the laptop interacts with the hard drive while it's in sleep mode and charging.
Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot this issue:
1. Check Boot Order in BIOS:
- Restart your laptop and press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
- Navigate to the Boot Order or Boot Options section.
- Ensure that your primary hard drive is listed as the first boot device.
- Save the settings and exit.
2. Update BIOS:
- Check if there is a BIOS update available for your laptop model on the HP Support page.
- Installing the latest BIOS update may resolve compatibility or power management issues.
3. Disable Fast Startup:
Windows Fast Startup can sometimes cause problems with the boot process, especially when resuming from sleep or hibernate.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
- Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
- Uncheck the option Turn on fast startup.
- Save changes and restart your laptop.
4. Adjust Power Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Select Change plan settings next to your active power plan.
- Click Change advanced power settings.
- Under Hard disk > Turn off hard disk after, set it to Never when plugged in.
- This will prevent the hard drive from powering down while in sleep mode.
5. Run Full System Diagnostics: HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
- Restart your laptop and press F2 during startup to run HP's built-in diagnostics.
- Run a full system diagnostic to check if there’s any other hardware issue.
If the issue persists, it may be beneficial to reset power management settings in the BIOS or update power-related drivers from the HP website. Let me know if you need further guidance!
