Everytime my notebook is on standby it makes notification noises. When i open it i don't see any notifications. I tried to switch all notifications off but that does not help at all. I don't know where it comes from. I already switched off notification noises on apps like whatsapp but nothing works. It's really annoying. It don't want to shut my notebook down everytime i take a break.

Hi @Alina_22,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand It sounds like there might be a system or application setting causing these notification sounds even when notifications are seemingly turned off.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check System Sounds Settings:

  • Go to Settings > System > Sound.
  • Ensure that "Play sound when a notification arrives" is turned off.
  • Check other sound settings to ensure nothing is set to make sounds during standby.

Check Notification Settings:

  • Go to Settings > System > Notifications & actions.
  • Review the settings for each app and ensure notifications are turned off, especially for any apps that you suspect might be causing the issue.

Check Background Apps:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Background apps.
  • Review the list of apps allowed to run in the background and disable any that aren't necessary.

Update Drivers:

Check for Software Updates:

  • Ensure Windows and all your applications are up to date. Sometimes bugs causing such issues are fixed in software updates.

Third-Party Software:

  • If you have recently installed any third-party software, especially ones related to system optimization or customization, try uninstalling them temporarily to see if the issue persists.

Run Troubleshooters:

  • Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can help identify and fix various issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, and run the troubleshooters related to sound/audio and notifications.

Reset Windows Notifications:

  • Go to Settings > System > Notifications & actions.
  • Scroll down and click on "Reset" under the "Get notifications from these senders" section to reset notification settings for all apps.

Check Task Scheduler:

  • There might be a task scheduled to trigger notifications. Open Task Scheduler (search for it in the Start menu), and review any tasks that might be related to notifications.

Check for Malware:

  • Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to check for any malware that might be causing unwanted notifications.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
