@Ips20, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Black Screen on Your HP Laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Experiencing a black screen when turning on your HP laptop could result from various issues, including hardware or software problems. Here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot this issue:

Check Power Supply: Ensure that your laptop is receiving power. Confirm that the power adapter is plugged in correctly and the power indicator light is on.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off your laptop and unplug any connected external devices.
  • Disconnect the power adapter.
  • Remove the battery (if applicable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power adapter (without the battery for now) and turn on the laptop.

Check Display:

  • External Monitor: Connect your laptop to an external monitor to determine if the issue is with the display. If the external display works, your laptop's screen might be faulty.
  • Brightness: Increase the screen brightness using the function keys as sometimes brightness settings might cause the display to appear off.

Safe Mode:

  • If you hear startup sounds but see no display, try booting into Safe Mode. This can sometimes help fix issues caused by corrupted software or drivers.

Hardware Issues:

  • Graphics Card: Ensure that the graphics card is properly seated (if accessible).
  • RAM: Reseat the RAM to ensure it is properly connected.

BIOS/UEFI Reset:

  • Sometimes resetting the BIOS to factory settings can help. Instructions for this are specific to your model and found in the user manual or support site.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
