A friend has experienced a hard drive crash on her 15-af174nr (Touch). I'd like to replace it with a SSD, but I can't seem to find a place to download the factory image. She does not have restoration media. Can someone tell me what I need to do to create a flash drive to build the new SSD?

That model came from HP with W10 64 bit installed, not W8.1

That model is not supported by the HP cloud recovery tool.
You would have to order factory recovery media from HP.
You can make your own W10 installation media and install W10 for free using the media creation tool from the link below.

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.
