My uncle gave me his old notebook for a reinstall. The notebook is HP Pavilion DV6000. It has 1GB of RAM and Windows 7 installed. I am thinking of installing Windows 10 as it is more optimized and has other features that boost its performance (Hybrid Boot, memory compression, etc). He and his wife don't need the speed, as long as they can browse their files and have 1 internet tab open it's fine. What do you guys think? Which OS fits better?

Hi:
Here is the link to the W10 system requirements.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028142/windows-10-system-requirements
Bear in mind that HP only supported that model for Windows Vista and has retired driver support since the model is over 10 year old.
I can guarantee you that several devices will no longer work after upgrading to W10, and you will need to find (and hope) that the Vista drivers work for the devices that need the drivers.

1 GB of RAM is not enough for Windows 10.
It is barely tolerable for Windows 7.
For Windows 10, you'll need 4 GB of RAM.
You should be able to buy 4 GB of DDR2 RAM on eBay for less than $15 used.
Do a clean installation of Windows 10.
Use the Windows 7 product key to activate Windows 10.

You could try using a lightweight Linux distribution such as PeppermintOS for your notebook. If you have any problems feel free to contadt me.
