uncertain which Board this applies to: Notebook Operating System, Notebook {non-wireless} networking, or Notebook Hardware
Which drivers(s) are used for the USB-C port? HP support for the m6-AQ105dx doesn't indicate which drivers, if any, are applicable to the USB-C port. Is it solely controlled by BIOS?
The HP Support Assistant is prompting me to update BIOS to F.59, and the Intel Driver & Support Assistant is prompting me to update the drivers for the Intel AC-7265(ver.D) wireless card for "security" issues. I am reluctant to install either for fear they will affect the USB-C port that I use frequently for WIRED LAN (using RJ-45 adapter).
The USB-C (to RJ-45) used to show up under Device Manager, Network Adapters, as a LAN connection, but sometime over the past few years of updates, now longer appears in that category.
Thank you!

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
Updating the BIOS is recommended as standard maintenance of the computer. It can also help resolve the following issues:
-
An available BIOS update resolves a specific issue or improves computer performance.
-
The current BIOS does not support a hardware component or a Windows upgrade.
-
HP support recommends installing a specific BIOS update.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
