HP ENVY 17-J102tx Leap Motion TS SE
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I am going to replace my 1TB SATA with Samsung's 2TB SSD on my laptop HP ENVY 17-J102tx Leap Motion TS SE.

Question is how to I copy my existing HP 's Win10 & license from 1TB   to  2TB SSD with ease?

Q1. Should I use HP Recover Media ?

       Q1.A :  Is there a tutorial / step - by - step guide.?

Q1.B : If I attach 2TB HDD in Slot 2, Can HP Recover Media From Slot 1 Copy Win10 & License into Slot 2 and make it bootable ?   Once done I will then attach 2TB into Slot 1 to boot.

OR

Q2. Should i use Samsung Cloning Tool ?

Any Advise ?

Let me try to address your options:

1) Using HP Recovery Media -- NO, do NOT use this.  This does a factory reset and you will lose EVERYTHING from your drive in the process.

2) Using Samung Cloning tool -- Yes, you should use this.  I used this tool some time back to do cloning and it worked fine.  From what I recall, it had the option to clone from a larger drive to a smaller drive, and that is essential if you're going from a larger capacity HDD to a smaller capacity SSD.
