Hi. When i try tostart up my Hp laptop model 14s-dq0024ns, the screen remains black with periodic white flashing in coincidence with the white light on the left side, that comes and goes. It happened once some months ago but it went away by itself. Now I haven’t been able to start my laptop for two weeks. Please help. Thank you

Hi @Aga2025,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it is when your laptop won’t start, especially with a black screen and blinking lights. Based on your description, the HP 14s-dq0024ns is likely experiencing a hardware-level fault, possibly related to the display, motherboard, or RAM. Let’s walk through the recommended steps to troubleshoot this.

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Disconnect the charger and any external devices.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the charger and try powering on again.

Step 2: Check Blink Pattern

The white blinking light near the power port may indicate a diagnostic code:

  • 1 blink: CPU failure
  • 2 blinks: BIOS corruption
  • 3 blinks: Memory/RAM issue
  • 4 blinks: Graphics failure
  • 5+ blinks: System board or other hardware fault

If you can count the blinks in a repeating pattern, I can help decode it.

Step 3: Try External Display

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor via HDMI.
  • If the external display works, the issue may be with the internal screen or cable.

Step 4. BIOS Restore:

  1. Shut down the computer, keep the charger plugged in
  2. Hold down the Windows and B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.
  3. Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
