HP Stream
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

How did your computers get worse? I bought my HP Stream so that I would have a compact laptop I could easily carry around. It turns out it (seemingly on purpose) has absolutely no space on the disk. All 32 GB are used up. What's strange is when I erase a bunch of files my free space inexplicably goes down again after some minutes.

I've been trying to turn off hibernate but the sets of commands from all these forums don't work! powercfg.exe /hibernate off doesn't work!! I uninstalled OneDrive to maybe stop the comp from downloading media from the cloud but I can't delete pictures from my Camera imports anyway because of an "unexpected error" (Error 0x8007016A)! OMG, what a pile of junk!!!! I would never have bought this machine if I knew it would have NO memory at all!! Is this a ploy to get me to buy HP external hard drives!? Why would anyone buy such a useless laptop!!!!

It ran out of space (STORAGE, not memory) because it has a tiny 32GB  eMMC drive.

Now you know, just save this idea for next machine.

It should have a slot for a card reader, you can use that slot for a SD, SDHC or SDXC card to keep YOUR DATA/FILES. Please read the following information to look after it

The two primary culprits that fill up the "disk space" (not memory) on the Stream are website files and Windows Update files -- neither of which are removed automatically.

Sorry, but these new PCs that come with only 32GB of storage use an M.2 SSD -- which is actually a stick of memory configured to act like a storage device.

There are serious problems in trying to replace these with larger SSDs:
1) Have to completely disassemble the PC in order to get at the SSD -- no longer a simple matter of removing a screw in a an access latch
2) Lack of External USB-to-SSD adapters -- so you can't hook up a new M.2 SSD to your PC and migrate your existing setup to the new SSD.

You're basically stuck with what you have.

Here are some things you can do to recover some of the disk space:

Also, the community Win10 Forums has the following suggestions:

Finally, there is a freeware app known as Wise Disk Cleaner. I use it every day to get rid of junk files: https://www.wisecleaner.com/wise-disk-cleaner.html
