Hi @Kelley20
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It can be frustrating when the Settings menu won't open. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix glitches.
Use an Alternative Method: Try opening Settings using these shortcuts:
- Press Windows + I on your keyboard.
- Right-click the Start button and select "Settings" from the menu.
Run System File Checker:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for "cmd," right-click, and choose "Run as administrator").
- Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This will scan and repair corrupted system files.
Check for Windows Updates:
- If you can access any part of the system, search for "Windows Update" and ensure your system is up to date.
Create a New User Account:
- If the issue persists, create a new user account with administrator rights. Sometimes, a corrupted user profile can cause this problem.
Reset Your PC:
- As a last resort, you can reset your PC. This will reinstall Windows but keep your personal files. You can find this option under "Recovery" in the Settings menu (if accessible).
If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day! 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!
