HP Omen 15AX 250wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Just bought a new HP Omen 15AX 250wm laptop

I went to Microsoft to download a fresh Windows 10 but now I'm worried I may mess up drivers and other sets.

I'm trying to get rid of bloatware making my new laptop super slow

What to do?

Save off the C:\swsetup folder from the hard drive. It has all the drivers and apps originally shipped with the system stored in that file. You can reinstall what you want after the fresh install. It is a little hard to find the Omen Control app which has the cool background, etc. You should be able to do a refresh of Windows 10 without actually reinstalling or even a factory restore and then remove bloatware item by item. I suspect you have something else going on as just the factory bloatware should not make the system so unresponsive. Before you do anything to software run a full hardware diagnostic in UEFI setup by tapping esc as you power on then F2. Test all the hardware with the long tests. Takes a while but then you will know it is not hardware or you will find an error and can fix it.
