Win 10 HPNetbook, no sleep, Dell Laptop has sleep
Dear HP Forum, sleep under power button.
I have Windows 10 on both my HP Netbook and my Dell Laptop.
Some years ago I was able to add 'sleep' to my power button on the Dell Laptop thru changing some items in Control Panel.
Using the same method I have been trying to add 'sleep' to my power button on the HP Netbook, unsuccessfully.
I will provide screenshots of the Win 10 HP Netbook, and the Dell Laptop when you reply.
How can I add 'sleep' to my power button on the HP Netbook?

Hi @coppens1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
To enable the Sleep option for the power button on your HP Mini 110-3530nr running Windows 10, follow these steps:
Steps to Enable 'Sleep' in Power Options
Open Control Panel:
- Press Win + R, type control, and hit Enter.
Navigate to Power Options:
- Select Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
Edit Power Button Settings:
- On the left pane, click Choose what the power buttons do.
Enable Sleep:
- Under Power and sleep buttons and lid settings, check if there’s an option for Sleep. If not, proceed to the next step.
Enable Sleep in Advanced Settings:
- Go back to the main Power Options page and click Change plan settings for your current power plan.
- Select Change advanced power settings.
- In the new window, expand Sleep and ensure all sub-settings (e.g., Allow hybrid sleep, Hibernate after) are appropriately configured.
Check Device Compatibility:
- Some older devices, like the HP Mini 110-3530nr, might have limited support for advanced power states such as Sleep in Windows 10 due to hardware limitations or driver issues.
- Open Device Manager (press Win + X, then select it), expand System devices, and verify that devices like ACPI-compliant control method battery are functioning correctly.
Update Drivers:
- Ensure all drivers are up to date, especially the chipset and power management drivers. Download updates from the HP Support website.
What if 'Sleep' is Still Missing?
If the option is still unavailable:
Run the Power Troubleshooter:
- Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters, then run the Power troubleshooter.
Manually Enable Sleep:
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:

Irwin6 HP Forum 020225 sorry, didn't work
Dear Irwin6, I tried all the procedures in your message, even the command prompt procedure, and nothing worked.
It's funny, some time ago, I was able to add hibernate, but now I can't add sleep.
Any other suggestions? JC

to Vince 100225 no Opp to 'reinstall display driver'
Dear Vince, after checking next to run trouble shooting tool, "Do you want to allow.." appears. When you click yes, next screen is detecting issues. Then it says "no changes or updates were necessary". There was no opportunity to "reinstall the display drive."
What do you suggest?
