We have a new HP 17 in laptop (PC 17-c2000) with Win 11 installed.
We are a small UK charity and require Win 10 for operational reasons.
I have consulted the HP Virtual Assistant who tells me to use the go back facility.
This build of HP Win11 does not have the go back option.
Following advice on ZDNet I installed Win 10 using the usual procedure.
This resulted in a laptop that was about as much use as a house brick!
No touchpad, no network, minimal keyboard function.
Obviously, it was a driver problem, but with no network and minimal keyboard function I had no pathway to resolve the issues.
Is it possible to install Win 10 on this laptop?
Thanking you

HP does not support consumer class notebooks that were designed to run W11 for W10.
In the future, I recommend you buy business-class notebooks (HP Probooks/HP Elitebooks) that have driver support for both W10 and W11.
Wireless drivers aren't an issue, but other devices such as the touchpad might be.
The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the drivers from the older base model 17-c0xxx model series that came with W10 but was introduced to market around the time W11 was introduced to market so it has drivers for both operating systems

For the wireless, go to the device manager and when the wireless network adapter needs a driver, there will be a device listed there labeled as a Network Controller.
Post the hardware ID for the network controller and I will post the link to the latest W10 Wi-Fi driver for it.
Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device:

Hi Paul
Thank you for your reply. However:-
‘In the future, I recommend you buy business-class notebooks’
We are a small charity with limited funds. It is not viable to pay the higher price commanded by these devices. We were pushed to justify the cost of this laptop!
Also, there is no information about using Win 10 on these devices.
‘For the wireless, go to the device manager and when the wireless network adapter needs a driver,’
As I said, there was only limited keyboard functionality. Getting to device manager was not possible!
What I need is a Win 10 installation/recovery file with appropriate drivers included.

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, there is no W10 installation media with drivers or a recovery file for the 17-c2000 model series, which is what I'm trying to say.
No PC manufacturer that I know of supplies W10 drivers for their consumer class notebooks if they came with W11 from the factory.
Here's a Dell Inspiron 15-3530 consumer class notebook for example...support for W11 only...

If you can't use the keyboard, I would use a USB keyboard and USB mouse from a desktop PC to navigate so you can install the drivers and provide the information I requested in order for me to try and help you out of the dilemma you are in.

Hi Paul
I have now got Windows 10 working on the laptop.
I had to restore the laptop to factory condition.
Then I backed up the Win 11 drivers to USB memory, all 208 of them.
I went through the process if installing Win 10 in a dual boot configuration.
I was then able to use a mouse and Device Manager to install the multitude of missing drivers from the memory stick.
All working now.
Thanking you.
