Would someone please help me to install win 7 to my hp laptom 15-n096st. In the installation process there is problem.

"Required CD/DVD device driver is missing."  I know I should have that driver but I don't know which driver it is.  Would somebody please explain me how to do it?

Thank you.

Hi:

When you select the USB flash drive from the boot options menu, it should just boot and begin to load W7.

To make sure it boots from the flash drive, restart the PC, tap the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to get the menu of options.

Select the F9 boot options menu from the list, and then select the USB flash drive as the device to boot from.

Hi:

If you are installing W7 from a USB installation flash drive, you need to:

1. Enable legacy mode and disable secure boot in the BIOS.  W7 is not compatible with secure boot.

See this guide for what setting to change...

http://www.support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03736054/

2. Plug your USB flash drive in the PC's USB2 port.  It won't work from either of the USB 3 ports.

I haven't prepared USB flash drive. But when windows wants drivers in the installation process I don't know which drivers should I write to that bootable flash drive.  So would you please give the links of that drivers so that I can write them to the USB flash drive.  I have a setup dvd. Meanwhile how can I understand whether my usb ports are usb 3 or usb 2?

Thank you.

Hi:

I believe the DVD you made is defective, because your PC needs no special drivers for W7 to install.

However when you install W7 from a USB flash drive, you need to start it from a USB 2 port, because W7 does not have the required USB 3 drivers to install.

The USB 2 port according to the user guide for your notebook is on the right side of the notebook, according to chapter 2, page 5 of the user guide.

I have done some configurations to BIOS. IMG_1509.JPG

But it seems the error I have mentioned is a common one because there are solutions about it and solutions are related to drivers.

https://www.google.com.tr/search?hl=tr&as_q=&as_epq=required+cd+dvd+driver+missing+&as_oq=&as_eq=&as...

So how will I proceed now? Would you help me find the drivers?

Thank you

BIOS looks fine.

There aren't any drivers needed for amd platforms.

If you are installing via a DVD, and you get the Required CD/DVD device driver is missing notice, 99 times out of 100, the DVD is bad.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2755139/-a-required-cd-dvd-drive-device-driver-is-missing-o...

Only on rare occasions would you need a disk driver for some newer PC's with Intel hardware.

Hi:

If you have the W7 ISO file use this tool to transfer it to a DVD or USB flash drive.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool?ranMID=24542&ranEAID=je6NUbpO...)()

If you need to download the ISO file...

This site claims to have genuine, unadulterated W7 ISO files for download...

https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-iso-download-tool

Click on the link labeled Windows ISO Downloader.exe

You can use either the:

Win 7 Home SP1 or the (Retail version.

Win 7 Home SP1 COEM (This version would be for what HP would have used--System Builder).  You need an OEM product key.

1) I have been downloading the iso file.

2) The page you have linked also links a tool but it does not work: Microsoft Image Mastering API v2 must be installed. It can be downloaded

     https://www.microsoft.com/library/errorpages/smarterror.aspx

3)  I have downloaded this dot net but I cannot install it.

     dot net.png

4) I have downloaded USB/DVD download tool and installed it.

After iso file has been dowloaded, how will I proceed?  I really want to complete this task.  A 16 gb flash drive is waiting to be used to install win 7.  After iso files downloaded, will I prepare a bootable disk?

Thak you.

HP Recommended

Yes, once you download the ISO file, run the ISO to USB/DVD tool.

16 GB is fine.  It has to be a minimum of 4 GB.

I have never checked an ISO file for its integrity.  They have always worked for me.

Just make sure the file size that said should be downloaded is the file size you got.

Then you can pretty much bet you are OK.
