Having critical files you can't afford to lose is WHY you do regular backups, which I'm guessing you have NOT bothered to do, right?  I do backups every week -- to prevent this very problem because ALL drives fail eventually, it is only a matter of WHEN, not IF.

Automatic repair mode will not end well because it means Windows had determined the drive is corrupted and will attempt to fix it. Problem is, at least in MY experience, it never does that.

This means the drive is failing and needs to be replaced.

Whether or not you can save anything on the drive depends on how badly it is failing -- and there is no way for us to tell that.

You have two choices: (1) recover the files in place  or (2) remove the drive, connect it to a working PC and recover the files there.

To do (1) you have to download and install an app (Macrium Reflect - MR) on a working PC and use the option to create a Recovery USB stick on that PC, boot your PC with that, connect another USB stick , and try to use the built in file manager of MR to find and copy the files you need to save to the second USB stick.

To do (2), you have to remove the internal drive, buy an adapter to connect the drive to a working PC, and then try to use FIle Manager on that PC to fine and copy the files you wish to save.
