@Pavan_10, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing issues with the Windows key not working for certain shortcuts on your HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-e2000 (2J4V9AV) running Windows 11. You've already tried restarting and confirmed that Sticky Keys and Filter Keys are off, great first steps!
Let’s go through a few more troubleshooting steps to help resolve this:
Check for Physical Key Issues
- Try pressing the Windows key alone. If it doesn’t open the Start menu, the key might be physically damaged.
- Connect an external USB keyboard and test the same shortcuts. If they work, the issue is likely with your laptop’s keyboard.
Check Group Policy Settings (Windows Pro/Education)
Sometimes, group policies can disable certain Windows key shortcuts.
- Press Windows + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
- Navigate to:User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > File Explorer
- Look for “Turn off Windows Key hotkeys”.
- If it's Enabled, double-click and set it to Not Configured or Disabled.
- Click Apply and OK, then restart your PC.
Check Registry Settings
- Press Windows + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
- Navigate to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
- Look for a value named “Scancode Map”.
- If it exists, it might be disabling the Windows key.
- Right-click and delete it (after backing up the registry).
- Restart your PC.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
To rule out hardware issues:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press the power button, then immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Run the Keyboard Test.
Update or Reinstall Keyboard Driver
- Right-click Start > Device Manager.
- Expand Keyboards.
- Right-click your keyboard device > Uninstall device.
- Restart your PC. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
