@Pavan_10, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing issues with the Windows key not working for certain shortcuts on your HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-e2000 (2J4V9AV) running Windows 11. You've already tried restarting and confirmed that Sticky Keys and Filter Keys are off, great first steps!

Let’s go through a few more troubleshooting steps to help resolve this:

Check for Physical Key Issues

  • Try pressing the Windows key alone. If it doesn’t open the Start menu, the key might be physically damaged.
  • Connect an external USB keyboard and test the same shortcuts. If they work, the issue is likely with your laptop’s keyboard.

Check Group Policy Settings (Windows Pro/Education)

Sometimes, group policies can disable certain Windows key shortcuts.

  1. Press Windows + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to:User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > File Explorer
  3. Look for “Turn off Windows Key hotkeys”.
  4. If it's Enabled, double-click and set it to Not Configured or Disabled.
  5. Click Apply and OK, then restart your PC.

Check Registry Settings

  1. Press Windows + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
  3. Look for a value named “Scancode Map”.
    • If it exists, it might be disabling the Windows key.
    • Right-click and delete it (after backing up the registry).
  4. Restart your PC.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

To rule out hardware issues:

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Press the power button, then immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  4. Run the Keyboard Test.

Update or Reinstall Keyboard Driver

  1. Right-click Start > Device Manager.
  2. Expand Keyboards.
  3. Right-click your keyboard device > Uninstall device.
  4. Restart your PC. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
