Hi @Shiba56,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code 0xc0000001 on an HP laptop typically indicates a problem with the Windows boot process. This could be due to corrupt system files, hardware issues, or a failed update. Here's how to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Shut down the laptop completely.
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
- Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the power adapter and battery, then turn on the laptop.
Enter Recovery Mode
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press the Power button, and immediately start tapping the F11 key repeatedly until the recovery screen appears.
- Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options.
Repair Windows Startup
- From Advanced Options, select Startup Repair.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to let Windows attempt repairs.
Perform a System Restore
- If Startup Repair fails, go back to Advanced Options.
- Select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point (if available) and follow the prompts to revert to a previous system state.
Boot from a Windows Installation USB
- Create a bootable Windows USB drive using another computer (use the Microsoft Media Creation Tool).
- Insert the USB into your laptop and boot from it:
- Restart the laptop and press F9 or ESC repeatedly to open the boot menu.
- Select the USB drive.
- Choose Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.

Run a Check for Corrupted Files
- Boot into the Windows USB as in Step 5.
- Open Command Prompt from Advanced Options.
- Run the following commands:
chkdsk C: /f /r
sfc /scannow
- Replace C: with the appropriate drive letter if Windows is installed on another partition.
Reset the Laptop (Last Resort)
- If the issue persists, use the Reset this PC option in Troubleshoot.
- Choose either:
- Keep my files (removes apps and settings but retains personal files).
- Remove everything (complete reset).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
