Hi @Shiba56,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0xc0000001 on an HP laptop typically indicates a problem with the Windows boot process. This could be due to corrupt system files, hardware issues, or a failed update. Here's how to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Shut down the laptop completely.
  • Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  • Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power adapter and battery, then turn on the laptop.

Enter Recovery Mode

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Press the Power button, and immediately start tapping the F11 key repeatedly until the recovery screen appears.
  • Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options.

Repair Windows Startup

  • From Advanced Options, select Startup Repair.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to let Windows attempt repairs.

Perform a System Restore

  • If Startup Repair fails, go back to Advanced Options.
  • Select System Restore.
  • Choose a restore point (if available) and follow the prompts to revert to a previous system state.

Boot from a Windows Installation USB

  • Create a bootable Windows USB drive using another computer (use the Microsoft Media Creation Tool).
  • Insert the USB into your laptop and boot from it:
    • Restart the laptop and press F9 or ESC repeatedly to open the boot menu.
    • Select the USB drive.
  • Choose Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.

Run a Check for Corrupted Files

  • Boot into the Windows USB as in Step 5.
  • Open Command Prompt from Advanced Options.
  • Run the following commands:

chkdsk C: /f /r
sfc /scannow

  • Replace C: with the appropriate drive letter if Windows is installed on another partition.

Reset the Laptop (Last Resort)

  • If the issue persists, use the Reset this PC option in Troubleshoot.
  • Choose either:
    • Keep my files (removes apps and settings but retains personal files).
    • Remove everything (complete reset).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
