HP Spectre x360 (13-4041no)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an old HP Spectre x360  (13-4041no) from around 2015 that needed a reinstall of Windows 10. After it was done, the WiFi and speakers didn't work. After the built-in troubleshooters in windows couldn't fix it, I tried installing the HP Assistant software on the laptop by downloading the installer onto a USB drive on another computer, putting the USB in the laptop and moving the installer onto the laptop and launching it, but it always fails to execute.

Additionally, HP does not provide drivers for this laptop anymore (https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-spectre-13-4000-x360-convertible-pc/model/8566169?sku=M5M66E...), and I can't add the laptop to my profile for contacting support because I can only add the laptop via the serial number, which returns a completely different laptop (yes, I have double-, even triple-checked that I wrote in the correct serial number).

Is there any hope for restoring a fully functional Windows 10 on this laptop?

What happens in some circumstances is that the serial numbers are duplicated due to the way HP generates the serial number.

The 4th, 5th and 6th characters are the year and week of manufacture, 4th = year (0 -9), 5th and 6th = week (01 - 52).

So, a serial number could be duplicated for some PC's every 10 years.

Support for your notebook has been retired since it is more than 10 years old which is why the S/N for only the one model shows up on the support site.

If you were to enter your notebook's serial number in the search window at the link below, it would provide an option to select which PC you want information about.

That won't help you get support for your PC of course since support has been retired, but now you know the reason why this happened.

There is this reputable 3rd party driver site that has drivers that should work for your notebook.

This is the HP Spectre x360 13-40xx model sold for use in Spain:

Avoid clicking on any of those pop-up ads that appear on the site.

It's annoying but the actual driver downloads work fine.
