HP EliteBook 850 G3 Base Model Notebook PC

My product is HP EliteBook 850 G3 Base Model Notebook PC.  It runs Windows 10 64-Bit.  On it Windows Update is not downloading the updates it needs to install.  While trying to diagnose the problem, it detected a unique update, HP Development Company, L.P. - Extension - 8.10.29.1.  That one required a restart.  Now, nothing downloads or installs.  My Mozilla programs, Firefox and Thunderbird undergo these hanging updates where they don't appear to download, but apply updates after a restart.  With this Windows, after running their Troubleshooter, nothing gets fixed.  Does anyone have a solution?  I should add that I ran the HP Support Assistant.  It detected nothing.  I just ran System File Checker.  It found corrupt files and repaired them.  I should have gotten back to this thread sooner.  My ISP spent Wednesday, Thursday and Friday working on the network replacing hardware and old lines.  So, there were connection problems across the network.  Everything works fine now that they completed their work.
