Hi @Odila
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you can’t log into your Windows 10 PC and all accounts, including the Administrator account, are disabled, and you want to restore the computer to a fresh state, you can try several methods to either repair or reset the system. Here are the steps you can follow:
Option 1: Use Windows 10 Recovery Options
If you're unable to log into Windows, you can use the Windows 10 recovery environment to perform a factory reset or repair the system.
Step 1: Boot into Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)
To access the Windows Recovery Environment, follow these steps:
Force Restart Your Computer:
- Press and hold the power button to turn off your computer.
- Power it back on and repeat the process (turn it off and on) 2-3 times.
- On the 3rd restart, Windows will automatically boot into WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment).
Use Advanced Startup Options:
- Alternatively, if you're able to get to the sign-in screen, hold down the Shift key and click Restart.
- This will take you to the Advanced Startup Options.
Step 2: Reset Your PC (Fresh Start)
Once you're in Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE):
- Select Troubleshoot.
- Click on Reset this PC.
- Choose Remove Everything to do a fresh reset (this will remove all personal files, apps, and settings).
- If you want to keep personal files, select Keep my files, but it may still remove some apps and settings.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset.
This will effectively restore your computer to a clean state, as if it were a new system.
Step 3: Reinstall Windows 10 (Optional)
If resetting the PC doesn't work or if you prefer a clean installation, you can reinstall Windows 10 using a USB boot drive.
Option 2: Use a Bootable USB Drive to Reinstall Windows
If the recovery options are not working or you need a fresh installation, you can use a bootable USB drive to reinstall Windows 10:
Step 1: Create a Bootable USB Drive
- On another computer, go to the official Microsoft Windows 10 download page.
- Download the Media Creation Tool and run it.
- Choose Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) and follow the instructions to create a bootable USB drive.
I hope this helps.
